USAHello is a nonprofit organization that uses technology to help refugees and immigrants build new lives in the United States. Based in Portland, Oregon, our online services are available to newcomers all across the country.

Our online classroom is focused on helping refugees learn and succeed in America. We offer two programs for newcomers: Citizenship Preparation and GED/HiSet Preparation. We also have a free professional development program for educators of refugee and immigrant students.

What other programs does USAHello offer?

EDUCATION

USAHello’s Education pages offer information about schools, colleges, enrollment tips, scholarship resources, and English language learning opportunities online.

EMPLOYMENT

Our career and job resources help refugees and immigrants understand the American workforce and provide tips for applying for jobs. These informational pages contain simply written, basic information and some useful links. We also highly recommend Higher Advantage and Upwardly Global as resources for newcomers looking for additional career help.

HEALTH and MENTAL HEALTH

USAHello’s Health pages provide an overview of healthcare in the United States and tips for keeping healthy.

RESOURCES and INFORMATION

Our Daily Life section provides information about life in the United States. The Culture section and Rights and Laws pages also provide the kind of information that will help new Americans understand aspects of their new lives.

USAHello’s Local Resources database is designed to link newcomers to programs, services and organizations in their area. Right now this database focuses on cities with large refugee populations, but it is expanding to include all communities where newcomers need access to resources.

MAKING CONNECTIONS

One of the goals of USAHello is to help refugees build community in the US. This means having friends who are Americans, but also other friends who are refugees and share a common experience. USAHello’s Refugee Voices is place for refugees to share their resettlement experiences and other stories of their lives.

Our site will host soon live forums that allow refugees to ask questions and find answers to the problems they face in their lives.
